Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled mechanical design engineer to plan and execute the same. The ideal mechanical designer must be up-to-date with state-of-the-art mechanical processes and technology. With a passion to design, develop and test mechanical components, the candidate must thrive in a challenging environment. Experimentation and innovation are the cornerstones of the mechanical design engineer job profile. We’re seeking a team player that can work alongside clients, manufacturing teams and engineers. Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing Special Purpose Machines, Food Processing Machines and systems that meet the technical requirements of a product or project.

Exposure

Project-based company, SPM Machine manufacturing, Food Processing, Material Handling Machines Well versed with ERP, MS Office. Design Software – Solid Edge and AutoCAD

Objectives of this role

  • Translate the client’s briefing to components through innovative and reliable mechanical product development
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of the machine design process, from planning and design to testing and implementation
  • Analyse the mechanical design and refine it as per the requirement
  • Adhere to national and local compliance regulations and standards, along with keeping in mind the ethos of the company

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems, keeping in mind the budget, timelines and other essential resources
  • Report to the senior mechanical design engineers and report to the company regarding the status of each project
  • Perform regular tests and experiments to determine how to better improve a component
  • Use CAD and 3D CAD programs to plan the mechanical design projects
  • Troubleshoot problems and devise solutions to resolve them
  • Research and keep up with the dynamic technology and trends in the mechanical design spectrum
  • Senior Member – Needed Supervisory and Managerial Skills

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • BE Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of work experience required in the manufacturing industry with design expertise
  • Proficient in CAD software: Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software such as SolidEdge and AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of mechanical design principles: In-depth understanding of mechanical design principles, including mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science
  • Familiarity with engineering standards: Knowledge of engineering standards, such as ASME, ASTM, and ISO, and regulatory requirements
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and solve technical problems related to mechanical components and systems
  • Experience with prototyping and testing: Experience with prototyping and testing mechanical components and systems
  • Analytical skills: Ability to use analytical tools to assess the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical designs

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Exposure to the food processing industry is a plus.
  • Should have hands-on experience in Solidworks or SolidEdge, AutoCAD or any 3D software.
  • Should have designing experience in automated SPM Design, Machine design, etc.
  • Sound knowledge of GD&T
  • Good communication & Interpersonal Skills.
  • Masters in Mechanical Engineering

Objectives of the role

  • Visiting customer sites and understanding customer needs and aligning product offerings with their requirements.
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance to customers throughout the sales process.
  • Conducting product demonstrations and delivering compelling presentations to showcase the value of our solutions.
  • Collaborating with the sales team to identify and qualify sales opportunities.
  • Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Contributing to sales strategies, pricing decisions and contract negotiations based on technical considerations.

Your Tasks

  • Understand our product/service’s technical features, functionalities and benefits.

  • Provide pre-sales support by answering technical inquiries and participating in sales meetings.

  • Give active feedback and insights from the market to the product development and marketing team.
  • Participate in sales meetings, trade shows and industry events to promote our products or services.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics and competitor offerings.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience as a sales engineer or in a similar technical sales role.
  • Strong technical background and ability to understand complex technical concepts and effectively communicate them to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Demonstrable experience in presenting technical products and services to customers, providing expert advice and troubleshooting customer queries.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify customer needs and propose innovative solutions.
  • Self-motivated and target-driven with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Indian market and customer preferences.
  • Familiarity with CRM and sales management tools.
  • Experience creating technical content, such as whitepapers or technical blog posts.
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Language proficiency in multiple languages to cater to a diverse customer base.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product development and marketing.
